The search for great barbers just got easier. Andrew Le, founder of Original Sharp Barbershop in Millburn, NJ, has launched a new barber recruitment portal that aims to take the frustration out of finding the best talent to fill empty chairs.
Barber Recruit is a hiring and professional networking platform Andrew is building specifically for barbers and barbershops, creating a dedicated place for barbers to find their next opportunity and for shop owners to build their teams.
After ten years running his own shop, Andrew felt like finding the right talent was like pulling teeth, and he was determined to do something to fix the problem.
“I was interviewing barbers off a Google Form because nothing better existed. No shared place to see portfolios. No way to post pay terms clearly. No path for a great barber in the next town to find me without already knowing someone,” said Andrew.
“Barber Recruit is the platform I needed behind the chair – real portfolios, real openings with real terms, and zero guesswork on either side.”
Having launched in Andrew’s native New Jersey, the platform aims to “open” shops gradually, going county by county starting with Middlesex and Somerset. While barbers can join from anywhere in the state, Andrew hopes this slow rollout means shop owners won’t be flooded with applicants before demand is real.
“We open shops county by county — only when enough barbers are already on the platform nearby. Each county we open earns the right to open the next. That way a shop that posts an opening actually gets applicants, not silence,” said Andrew.
While the service is free for barbers looking for work, shops are entitled to three months free, with the first 30 founding shops to join earning $29 a month locked for life. Barber founding membership closes September 20, 2026.
